Join us to celebrate Waitangi Day on 4 February.
You’re invited to join NZTE and WOMANZ members, the New Zealand Consulate and other special guests for a memorable celebration of what has become New Zealand’s national day. Always a stirring and unique event, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
Waitangi Day 2016 marks the 176th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand’s founding document. Signed on February 6th 1840 by representatives of the British Crown and over 500 Maori chiefs, this document made New Zealand a part of the British Empire, guaranteed Maori rights to their land and gave Maori the rights of British subjects.
Light refreshments will be served.
