Join us to celebrate Waitangi Day on 6 February 2018
You’re invited to join WOMANZ and NZTE members, the New Zealand Consulate and other special guests for a unique celebration of what has become New Zealand’s national day.
Last year the event was full with over 100 attendees. This year will be no exception with our Te Hononga O Nga Iwi Maori Party and a special raffle to win a signed All Blacks rugby jersey from the 2017 Lions Tour of New Zealand.
Always a stirring and memorable event, this is an opportunity not to be missed. Waitangi Day 2018 marks the 178th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand’s founding document. Signed on February 6th 1840 by representatives of the British Crown and over 500 Maori chiefs, this document made New Zealand a part of the British Empire, guaranteed Maori rights to their land and gave Maori the rights of British subjects.
Light refreshments will be served.
